Good Evening Everyone,

I just got a new job where my client is asking to install a subpanel because he would like to install a Tesla wall connector (80 amp 240v single phase).
he currently has a 150 amp panel in his one single family house He doesn't have room on his 150 old panel to add an extra doble pole 80 amp breaker, My question is:

What is the best Idea, Upgrade his panel to 250 amp or Install a new 100 amp sub panel and balance all the house load between the new panel and old panel?

I will appreciate any advice. Thank you in advance.

Yordanys Torres.

I would suggest doing a load calculation on what now exists based on the NEC. For instance, for a 120 volt 20 amp circuit the load is not 2400 watts.
