lightning arrestor

Does anybody know if it is required to have a lightning arrestor installed on a roof top mounted generator(diesel w/ day tank), roof is approx 100' high.

This is not a requirement of the NEC, however, further information can be found in the NFPA 780-1997, the Standard for the Installation of Lighting Protection Systems.

Are you asking for lightning protection or TVSS?

In my oppinion they should be both employed for the application you mentioned. Required by NEC not.
