I have built some signs for a customer. They are trimmed with LED perimeter rope lighting which is 110V directly plugged to an outlet (no transformer). The plug comes with two 8A fuses.
The problem is that the supplied plug and cord will be extending from the wall behind the sign too far, so that even with a standard recessed outlet, the cord will push the sign out from the wall.
Questions:
1. Do you think it is a problem to remove the supplied plug and either replace it with a non fused right angle plug, or to eliminate the plug and hard wire the lights to the supply?
2. Do you know of any extra deep recessed outlet configurations that may help?
3. Are LED rope lights prone to actually needing a fused connection? Not sure why they would need a fuse to start with, so educate me if you know.

Thanks in advance for any information.
