I think that's a great idea Don, but I would take it ten steps further. To simplify the code book even more, and eliminate many confusing issues, I propose that ridgid metal conduit be the only wiring method permitted in any occupancy.

About 100 miles away. In my area NM is used. I only do industrial now, and it is all rigid steel conduit.

And there's nothing wrong with that :D

I too live in NM land. All the same, I'm a pipe and wire guy that served his apprenticeship in Chicago. I do still venture into Chicago from time to time, and often into the closer burbs where CEC has been adopted. But, even here in Cheeseland, if I'm installing it, you can bet it's pipe and wire. ;)

If in doubt, use the redheads anyway! I myself also use the pipe and wire method. But I've pulled my share of Type MC and AC, and I new what I was using.
