Where would a hot tub and a detached pole barn fit into a Residential load calculation?

Don't know if the tub would be subject to any type of reduction or if the full nameplate needs to be used.

What determines the load of a pole barn when there is nothing spec' d except lights and a couple receptacles.

Thank you.

I think the barn would fall under general lighting loads and the hot tub would be based on the amp rating of the tub. That should also include 125% because of the motor.

Article 220.12 general lighting load would be for the dwelling only. I'm not sure what the sq footage is of the barn or what it might be used for but I would of course think about future use/expansion when installing the circuit to it.

This is an area of the code that needs some help. Certainly if you used 3 watts/ft sq for the barn that would be more than needed.

However, I believe you could take the number of receptacles and multiply it by 180va and just use 3 watts/ft sq for the barn -- code really doesn't say....

The hot tub has no demand factor-- 100%
