In your opinion, more time to hang say a 2' strut rack with 1/4" rod from steel with beam clamps or into newly poured slab with anchors/inserts?

Hanging from steel with beams clamps has got to be faster than drilling concrete and installing anchors especially when you factor in anchor failures which have to be redone.

Beam clamps has the advantage of going to the ladder once and completing the rack assembly. Deck inserts it becomes a two part procedure. Deck inserts also require coordination with other trades as you insert can easily get blocked by say ductwork if it isn't coordinated

I also vote for beam clamps. You can assemble the entire trapeze on the ground, then hang it and tighten the clamps.

Are the beams covered in monocoat? Beam clamps are faster but might not always be in the best location for the racks.

It's not a particular situation, just in general. What's the deal with Monocoat? Also, why not the best location for the racks?

I think Monocoat refers to fire-retardant, which is supposed to be replaced if disturbed.

Best location means the beams may not be directly above where you need support sometimes.

Monocoat can be horrible to remove and if the beams are already sprayed the removal will add time to your beam clamp installation. Regarding the beams is how far apart are they? If more than 10' then you'll need a rack in the middle which means you'll have to drill anyway. Besides no one I know supports the conduit at intervals near 10' which means that if you're planning on only using the beams for support you still need to add racks in the middle so factor in drilling and installing anchors.
