I've had a couple people wanting me to install the "twist lock" plug for a portable generator on the inside of their garage, which up to this point I would not do because of liability on my part just in case something would happen with C02 poisoning. Is there a specific code violation in doing this? I would think so, but don't know where it is. I just think common sense is enough myself. Both people have said they will keep it vented, but I know "things" happen. What are your thoughts? Thanks

I'm not aware of a requirement that an inlet (no suicide cords!) be outside. Even then, a determined idiot could run the cord back into the garage. I would suggest a hole through the wall with a weather-proof cover adapted to suit.

They make generator panels with the inlet built in and designed to be installed indoors so I don't see an issue with putting the inlet in a garage.
