Dear all,
is it possible to build an enclosure type 4X with internal industrial control equipment (AB controller, fuses, terminals) and instrinsic safe circuits according UL698A?
Cabinet is located in Class I Division 2 with Ex i extensions acc. UL698A. I think UL 121201 is only for equipment and not for solutions?

I very seriously doubt you will find the equipment described suitable for an Intrinsically Safe installation. I admit I would need to know a lot more about the AB Controller, but the fuses are questionable. You may instead want to use a nonincendive system per ANSI/ISA 12.12.01 for Division 2, but it would still be highly doubtful. The rules are a bit more lenient, but the equipment described is still questionable.

Yes it is possible to build a control cabinet like you describe, but you have to select the proper components
In a Div 2 area, the cabinet might have to be purged
My company just shipped our first one the other week
