I recently took a Virginia's Master exam and has a question that I missed : A farm with 3 buildings without a dwelling has 18Kw, 14Kw, and 12Kw.single phase 120/240 volts. What is the total demand load in amperes? (220.40)can anybody show me?

Re: Farm Demands

Here's my calculation,
18kw + 12kw + 14kw = 44kw
44kw/240v = 183 amps
Per 220.40
1st 60a @ 100% = 60A
next 60A @ 50% = 30A
rem. 63a @ 25% = 16A
Total demand 106Amps

Re: Farm Demands

jim T,good morning..u just blew my mind.I see which way u went with this.Retracked your method.In useing 220.40 of '02 table 220.40.

I pick up the '05 last night, went to table
220.103 w/ my #'bers.I may be in error sir.

Where there is equipment in two or more farm building or for loads having the same function, such loads shall be calculated in accordance with table 220.102.

In the original post,I looked at it as demand loads were calculated.Three buildings,no other info.

: -and shall be permitted to be combined as a single load in table 220.103 for calculating the total load..I need to look at this a 'lil more..
