I have search some on the forum and online. Searching the entire forum is quite time consuming so I thought it be quicker to just ask.
I have been told and remember seeing (in the NEC) a statement or an exhibit drawing on the actual clearance required from exterior door and window openings of a class1/div2 building. I did see Ex 501.8 in the 2017 NEC that show 10' beyond building but could find no other mention of this in sec 500. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you ion advance.

I don’t know what Ex 501.8 refers to. If the interior of a building is rated Class I, Division 2, it is rare that an exterior opening would have an extended hazard radius greater than 3 to 5 feet.
