exo thermic welds

i have a inspector that want me to use an exo thermic weld to a gas pipe is this legal to do. if any wants to see the inspection papers written by the inspector let me know and I'll e-mail you a copy of the paper

Ask him for a code section requiring the weld. 250.104 certainly doesn't require it...it doesn't even require an irrecersable crimp, much less an irreversable connection.

It's not part of the engineer's requirements, is it?

I have seen it done during new construction when there was no gas present in the pipe. But if the pipe has gas in it, BOOM!
