Electrical work in Vermont

I was asked to do work for someone in Manchester Vermont. I live in NJ and have a NJ electrical licence. I was told that I don't need permits or be licensed in the state. Does any one know if this is true are not?
I would rather not do the job because of the distance and the price I would have to charge. If there is any one who might be interested in a small commercial job call me 973-627-6700. I was told its hunting season and they can't get anybody to do the work.

I have heard that , while there is not a state wide code, there are codes and licensing laws adopted town to town. One would have to check with the Town of Manchester to see if there are licensing or code issues.
