NEC says all metallic piping must be bonded,I have a diconnect for solar for a tranformerless inverter #8 ground For EGC .the gas had no bonding,so I put ground bar in the solar utility disconnect , ran a # 8 and bonded my gas outside were it enters the house out of solar disconnect .Im doing a service change thats why Inspecter wants me to bond gas.inspecter said My gas bond has to come from main panel... How come I can come off my cold water bond on my water heater and bond my gas? This is not new construction I know about the within 5 feet off entering house water bond

The NEC states that metallic piping systems and metallic piping that is likely to become energized require bonding. A gas piping system is bonded through the EGC of the circuit feeding the gas appliance that is likely to energize it. Unless you have certain types of CSST no additional bonding is required for gas piping.
