Dimmer/thermostat for Infrared 4000W outdoor heater

Hi, I'm looking for a thermostat or dimmer for our 4000 w. heater. It is quite hot when on for awhile and we have to turn it off. The thermostat/dimmer for the brand is $1500 which is more than the cost of the unit! I have found one online for $135 that purports to work with our unit.
