I work as a electrician in a industrial manufacturing plant. I am trying to determine if using seoow cord is permitted to be used from the assembly table to the twist lock outlet device. The reason is that we move tables around very frequently. Our environment is clean with no hazards involved. The outlet device from the distibution panel is pipe to a location with a twist lock recepticle, which then is connected to a twist lock plug which supplies a outlet box for the table.

Thanks

Re: Cord connections

Mike,
I have the same problem (moving assembly and inspection benches) at one of my employers. We have wired these benches several ways: with bus drop from overhead hard wired to recept box; type SOO to pendant recepts; and from the side of the bench with type SOO. On the side installations we used cord saddles where necessary if foot traffic was even remotely possible. I feel the use is code compliant under Art 400, Uses permitted, "connection of stationary equipment to facilitate their frequent interchange"
