On that same note wont a motor rated 230v not last as long at 243V

Actually most motors like a slightly elevated voltage. The full load current drops slightly and they run cooler. This is more evident in integral HP 3 phase motors than smaller single phase.

You don’t get into severe problems with over voltage until you approach saturation.
