What resources do you use to acquire information about up coming bids, in your area of operation, if your starting out in a new state. Excluding public records, Dodge reports, and Trade Publications, basically I'm asking where do start. What is the most common way to get information on upcoming bids, and what chances do you have to bid work if your from out of state, coming into a new area. All research on hourly wage, competition,ect.. have been done.

Thank You in advance for your help

Re: Bidding Work in Other State

plc5,

the first thing i would recommend is that you find out what the states rules are concerning contractors from out of state.
for example, Alabama considers anyone outside of their state as a foreign entity and they must apply for an Alabama license. its a time consuming process. you don't need a hassle from the state reguarding this area.

maybe others will offer help in your request.

Contact All The Local General Contractors And Or Home Builders In The Area Which You Are Going (Make Some Cold Calls). I Know If You Get Ahold Of Teh Right Person In Each Company It Can Be Very Beneficial.
