800 panelboard

I have to install an 800amp panelboard on the load side of a 480v to 208v UPS system. The panelboard will be feed from an external manual bypass panel. (there is 3 800amp breakers in that) The question is: can the 800amp panel I install be a MLO (main lug only) or do I need to have an 800amp main breaker in that panel? All this equipment will be in the same room. Thanks in advance!

You should be OK using a MLO panel. Check with the UPS manufacturer to make sure that it's within their requirements, though. Some require over and above what's mandated in the Code or else they have an "out" if something goes wrong. C.Y.A. !!
