Greetings all has anyone done the NFPA 70E Online Training Series?
We had some plans to do in person training but need an online one now.

I do these trainings so I'm plugged into this. I've yet to do an online one, but I think one is coming up and I don't look forward to it. One bit of advice if you're looking to get 70E-educated is that the 2021 edition will be issued on 8/11/2020. In my opinion, this being a general consensus safety standard, it's in effect when issued, so you might want to wait until August. Then make sure the class you take is based on the 2021 edition.

Thanks for the reply. I'm teaching at a vo-tech, so I just want to make sure I've gone through the basics. I agree, it makes sense to wait. I'm mostly teaching 16-30 year old students with absolutely no experience, so while I do want details, the most important thing is that I hear the latest general spiel... Most of my training and experience is based on 2012. I expect the NFPA will have up-to-date training when the next edition is issued (I hope...). It's a shame, I've got the handbook, PDF handbook, and James R. White's awesome book, all based on 2018... All this is great, and I'd love to spend a month sorting through all this and come up with my own curriculum, PPTs, work sheets, and tests, but there just isn't enough time. Long story short, I was hoping someone offer their opinion of the online 70E training provided by NFPA.... Note: Vo-Techs often use web based training, so if someone could put together a well produced and affordable basic 70E training they could make a LOT of money. There's a company out there providing a vey well produced OSHA-10 online training for $25/student. Multiply that by 50% of every electrical Vo-Tech student int he country... Just sayin...

To answer your specific question about NFPA training: I've taken courses at the headquarters (Illinois) and I've done the online 8-hour course. I'm satisfied with both offerings; However, it's all based on the standard so there's nothing special about it. I wanted confidence that I was offering a similar experience to the actual NFPA offering, and I got that. For the online course, it was real straightforward, and the amount of time required to complete the material was consistent with the CEUs provided. So my assessment is that it was effective. The price was fair, but my company paid for it so that wasn't a concern.
Good luck it.
