During a former shutdown of a facility that I do work at, the kitchen boys set a can of gasoline on a Pot Stove with a Lit Pilot Burning.
Before this they were destroying gas Flex lines on the cook line about every 60 days on various peices of equipment.
I warned the DO that they were going to burn down the houe if things did not change.
They did not like the truth being pointed out.
In that Kitchen, Average IQ, about 60 at best and no supervision whatsoever.
Many repeating destructions of difficult to repair equipment such as Alto Shaam ovens wich were being power washed at year end, and they are surprised that they fail......
Children being turned loose with technology they have no idea about.

Found this on Reddit/Electricians today; Soft Starter with chair, a precursor to a VFD with ladder I guess...

Kitchen staff are rough on equipment, but that goes way beyond being just being rough.

An amazing account JRAEF.
I think I did tell the story of a MTC. guy who put a candle under the pilot burner of a good sized boiler one day.......
Then there are the stories of people who have " Substituted " gas fired controls with whatever they had.
This is where the Insurance company Photo archives come from in essence.

I had one similar. They had to pull a grill out to clean behind it. One of the kitchen workers took a (still no idea where it even came from) sawzall and cut the gas line so they could move the grill out further. Of course the leaking gas found a source of ignition. Fortunately no injuries, except I did not get a cheeseburger that day.
