Stationary Generator under deck

They have not been allowed under decks in this area.
The distance from the structure seems to be based on the type cover the generator has.

We have allowed them if there is adequate distance from any openings in the home. Only under open decks of course, if the manufacturer specs permit.

I think the last install manual I saw stated 5 feet clearance to any wood framing.

Is there any NEC requirement here? Other than standard equipment clearance.

We have the 5' clearance from combustibles and "openings" but if the deck is open I do not regard it as being "inside" the structure.
