Is there anywhere in the code that says that you should or even can put the HVAC serving an Emergency Room on the Equipment Emergency branch?

It's allowed in 517.34. In my area a lot of the HVAC equipment will be fed from 1 or more equipment ATS.

I doesn't appear to be listed in A or B. A only mentions supply, return and exhaust systems for operating and delivery rooms.

(B)(8) basically allows anything the hospital deems necessary to be placed on the equipment system.

Without AC, all the lights and equipment in an OR would probably make it heat up pretty quick.

Add all the protective clothing the staff has to wear, I would probably consider the AC a necessity.

Yes but Emergency Room is not the same as Operating and Delivery Rooms....

Tapatalk!

I saw OR on the 3rd post, and that what I thought we were talking about. Now I see the original post was about an emergency dept.

Anyhow, its still permitted (but not required) by (B)(8).

I agree heating is required by B1, but that's not necessarily the entire HVAC system.
