a heat exchanger is being installed in a small rm 5x5 it requires a 30 amp 220 volt disconnect . does this disconnect does this disconnect have to meet the requirements of table 110 .26 a 1 which states condition 1 and requires 3 ft what if the requirement cant be met can the disconnect be mounted on the out side wall of the enclosure which has the space required by 110. 26 ( a) (1)

I would think it would be a supplemental disconnect and would fall under 240.10.

Do we have a room and an enclosure?

110.26 does not apply. You are not working the disconnect 'hot'. Treat it like you would for a disconnect for a furnace.

240.10 Supplementary Overcurrent Protection.

Is this a fusible disconnect? Is there ready access to the overcurrent device to shut down power?
