What do you use for home automation that is reliable?
Beside crestron and control4 are there more affordable residential solutions that include av control,whole house audio,blinds, as well as the standard lighting control , appliances,havoc,with
Both iPhone and android apps available?
Any experience with mi casa verde controller?

If I had all that stuff I'd have a wood stove and oil lamp in every room.

The less expensive home automation systems sometimes have reliability issues. I use Insteon and have put a lot of work into getting it reliable. Some of these systems fit better into the hobbyist category. From the little I have read about Z-wave it can also have communication issues.
A lot will depend upon the protocol they use to enhance reliability by retrying failed messaging.

I would recommend you visit the forum site and read as many posts as you can stand to read to see how people who use it are maintaining.
