One could always get a refrigerator that is intended to be hard wired or one that is other than 15/20 amp 125 volt cord connected, then GFCI is generally not required in any location. Does rule using of millions of refrigerators that are out there though.

Do the covers meet 410.10(D)?

(D) Bathtub and Shower Areas. No parts of cord-connected
luminaires, chain-, cable-, or cord-suspended luminaires, lighting
track, pendants, or ceiling-suspended (paddle) fans shall
be located within a zone measured 900 mm (3 ft) horizontally
and 2.5 m (8 ft) vertically from the top of the bathtub rim or
shower stall threshold. This zone is all encompassing and includes
the space directly over the tub or shower stall. Luminaires
located within the actual outside dimension of the bathtub
or shower to a height of 2.5 m (8 ft) vertically from the top
of the bathtub rim or shower threshold shall be marked for
damp locations, or marked for wet locations where subject to
shower spray.

8' above the tub or shower threshhold niether applies and subject to shower spray is judgemental -- you do know under an exterior eve is considered damp , tell me you never saw a plastic or metal blank plate covering an exterior luminaire opening and if so did you fail the final -- open bulb recess trims are damp rated are there j boxes rated for damp locations?

Are you asking if there are damp location rated boxes out there or are you asking if the j box on the recessed luminaire is rated for damp locations?

The blank plate on a exterior box is a tricky one. Some may think you need a gasketed type cover, yet many luminaires that you may install over same box do not have any such seal to prevent moisture entry.

I was referring to the J box of the recess can -- which is generall exposed to atmosphere

Which is damp correct? If the box on the can were in a wet location they would be designed differently. Damp location equipment doesn't generally have gaskets or other sealing methods, but wet location equipment does. Wet location equipment can be used in damp or even dry locations though.
