2 feeders feeding a new building

I'm bidding on a job for a fertilizer building. It has two systems, a receiving system and a blending system. Originally the owner was spec'ing ( he is supplying service/ Square D materials, I do wire, labor, etc) a 400/600 Amp 480v 3ph feeder from another building to his new building. The load is 85A receiving side, 285A blending side. He is now thinking running feeders to each motor control panel from the same other building. The OCP will be approx 250' away, out of sight.

I'm curious how you all feel about this. The owner feels its cheaper, I think more labor. I just think its better design to run a 600A feed to the new building, and run each circuit from that. Plus I can derive 120/208 loads via a XFMR that's fed from the 600A MCP, instead of running another 120/208 line to this building as well.

Anyone think of any violations? I'm thinking safety that you would want disconnecting means in that facility, vs 250' away in another building.

225.30 Number of Supplies. Where more than one building or other structure is on the same property and under single management, each additional building or other structure that is served by a branch circuit or feeder on the load side of the service disconnecting means shall be supplied by only one feeder or branch circuit unless permitted in 225.30(A) through (E). For the purpose of this section, a multiwire branch circuit shall be considered a single circuit.
The only permitted use I think might apply, is (E) Documented Switching Procedures, but it is my understanding that there's much more to this than just sticking a label onto the front of the equipment.

That's my theory. One guy who thinks this up in his head might say this setup is ok, but you have to think about the people who operate this day in and day out. If there was an accident or emergency, I would like to go to one spot to disconnect all power, and be that isnt 250-300' away
