Hi,
Can anyone give me some information on the differences between 120/240v and 240v circuit breakers. Most of the designs I work on are in 120/240v Photovoltaic solar systems for residential use. Any help with links or diagrams would help.

Thanks!

Too add to what others said, as long as you are working with 120/240 volt single phase systems you don't need to worry about the difference, either one will be acceptable, but you will find the straight 240 volt rated is likely much higher priced if you do run into one.

If you ever work on three phase 120/240 delta with a "wild leg" you must use a straight 240 volt rated breaker for anything connecting to the "wild leg" as it is 208 volts to ground. You will also need to use straight 240 volt rated breakers for anything connected to a 240 volt corner grounded system as the voltage to ground is 240 volts. Three pole breakers are rated straight 240 AFAIK, (in miniature breaker types) so you don't have to watch this issue with three pole breakers.
