UF as an exterior switch loop.

I am told that local inspectors in Kentucky have enforced the use of UF cable for exterior outlets in a residential dwelling. I am unable to find this in the 2011 NEC. Where is it?

I would assume an 'interpretation' of 334.12(B)(4)
(If I understand the situation, it would overkill interpretation, IMHO, if the outlets are mounted in/on the dwelling exterior surface)
