If an electric service panel in a bathroom is replaced do you now need to relocate the panel? NEC 230.70(A)(2) States: "Service disconnecting means shall not be installed in bathrooms. I see this as an installation not a repair, comments welcome.:?

Well, I don't think the code is clear on it. Obviously if it re-installed in the bathroom then IMO you could not add new circuits from the panel. I think this is an AHJ call. IMO, if the panel is being replaced because it is failing then I would allow it to go back as long as new circuits are not added.

The question begs to be asked was this panel installed in the bath or was the area where the panel was installed converted into a bath? Essentially how did this panel end up in the bath.

I am also assuming this is a residence

I think you will not find an answer to this in the NEC.

I doubt this was ever code, so i don't see how you can take advantage of any "grandfathering" that might otherwise be available.

How hard would it be to move it to the other side of the same wall it is now on? Would that be a practical place to put it?
