As I mentioned in another thread I was reading the code FAQ's section of 2012 Electrical Contractor magazine and had a couple of Q & A that I want to further discuss.

One such question was where there was a wire under kitchen cabinets for fluorescent undercabinet lighting, and inspector informed him he needed a box on the end of the wire. Response was maybe because he did not have a luminaire present maybe he needed a box to terminate the cable.

I see that as a possibility, but also see nothing wrong with a cable that is not possible to be energized to be present either. So if not installing the luminaire, don't connect the other end of the cable either and you are still OK.

Any comments?
