What does it mean when the display in generator says low voltage, Is this the battery

It all depends upon the circle of those you are with. I always understood that HV was 35KV and above, MV from 35kv to 1000v and below 1000v to be LV.
Voltages 48v and below as limited energy.
But that's the industry that I'm from.
Some consider 480v as HV based when 120 and 240v being normal and 48 and below and LV.
As such you are correct when you ask what does Low Voltage mean as LV could mean a different thing to a number of people.

Somehow I don't think that's what the OP was asking!:happyno:

If it is running I would say generator low A.C. output voltage
If not running it probably would mean low battery voltage.
If you have the manual it will be in explained in it if not get make and model number and do a google search. Lots of times the manual is available on line.

I guess you missed my point. Is 120/240v considered low voltage of 12v considered low voltage? I depends upon the terminology that is common to those who work with the product 120v may be considered to be high voltage.

OP stated "What does it mean when the display in generator says low voltage, Is this the battery ."

Is it low voltage compared to what? Each person may have their own definition of what "low voltage" is depending upon their experience and the industry that they work in. If 120/240 is considered to be HV then one would assume that 12v is LV.

No the question is on the display pad of generator where you program system, the generator has stopped cycling and now the display reads low voltage, This doesn't mean LV 24 or 120 volts which is considered LV compared to 480 or 600 volts..... thats basic...

When you say "cycling" I assume you mean cranking cycles. If so then chances are it has ran the battery down and ether it doesn't have or the charger has stopped working. If it was running and shut down on low voltage fault then the voltage regulator or worse, the stator is shot.

I can't imagine that Honeywell is manufacturing their own gen sets. I would bet that they are getting them privately labeled from a company like Generac. Anyway, having said that, Generac is having some problems with their 17 and 20K generators. When the unit starts up for it's exercise cycle it runs at a modified and lower speed. You have to go back into the original programming, start from the beginning and change that feature. Make sure you follow the instructions all the way to the end. Don't stop when you change that specific run cycle feature.

Gotcha,
Them it isn't about signage on the generator itself but an actual readout displaying an error message of "low voltage." I find it to be interestring that the instructions don't define what the error message "low voltage" means.
Anyway one would think that a call to Honeywell would state what the error message was an indication of.
