Hello again everyone!!

I am upgrading a building that was built in the 60's. This building did not have a fire protection system hence we are creating a fire pump room that will house an electric fire pump (480V 100hp), a jockey pump (480V 2hp), a FACP, a high speed deluge panel (HSDP), annuciator, monaco system and all the other accessories.

There is no generator onsite and the project isn't going to get one, therefore based on NEC 695.3 we are going to provide a dedicated outdoor padmounted transformer from the utility service (pole mounted power) to feed the fire pump and jockey pump. Based on NEC 695.5 the min. size transformer to feed these two pumps should be 150KVA, 12.47 to 480V transformer.

However my question is about the FACP, annuciator panel, HSDP and other accessories in the room. Can I supply these panels from my normal power panel? or do I have to step down the power from the dedicated transfomer to a power panel to feed these items?

I wish I could attach my single-line but company is real strict with internet service. I show a separate single line similar to exhibit 695.5 from the NEC 2008 handbook. However still confused by Non-power limited Fire Alarm vs Power limited. The Fire protection system is designed by a subcontractor. I just need to bring power to the devices listed above and he'll show the rest.

Thanks!

The fire pump service has to be dedicated to the fire pump. Feed the Fire Alarm from the normal building service. It should have internal battery backup to meet the requirements of NFPA-72.
