Does anyone know the code requirements for suspending a ceiling fan from a single conduit? It's a commercial application with 15' ceilings. I've seen it done many times but can't find the requirements. Can anyone help?

Have not seen a setup like that. EMT with set screw connectors would not suffice IMHO.

Maybe Rigid conduit. I would prefer to support the fan from unistrut or similar. Then feed the

fan with MC cable or Emt from adjacent J-box.

I would never support or suspend anything from emt, especially using set screw connectors. That just hack and unsafe IMHO. I'm talking about using an RMC drop to an outlet box and then attaching the fan to the box. Any thoughts?

I dont know of a fan rated box that is made to be supported by an RMC drop... but if you find one, you're golden.

I think you are going to have to independently support the box. Or find a down rod to the length required.

Why don't you use a fan rated box on the ceiling with a ceiling fan extension rod. I almost sure you can get those up to 8' long.

Or use unistrut OFF of the ceiling and install a fan rated box on it.

I worked on one house with tall (22 foot) ceiling. 2 piece down rod, joined with factory supplied coupling that had set-screw built into the coupling.
