What is your preferred method of attaching strut above the bottom of bar joists?

Generally for me its either toggle bolts and fender washers or beam clamps fender washers and screws. Does anyone use something besides toggle bolts and washers when placing the strut on the top of the the bottom beam of the joist?

I know unitstrut has a couple of specific fittings for in between or under the bar joist(see pic) I'm not this about that arrangement.

most of the time its 3/8 beam clamps, or 3/8 beam clamps and rod. Those seem like pretty cool clamps you have pictured, looks like they'd be an easy install.

They are. We use them all the time. Caddy makes them (probably other manufacturers as well) they are beam clamps, bc in the caddy book. We call them tbf's for top or bottom of flange.

I like the Unistrut brand right angle beam clamps. Look a lot like the right angle clamps for conduit, but are square for strut. Anchor with these and lift a truck if the strut is strong enough.

those are cool... there are also strut hangers that are a square u bolt, usually 3/8" and a saddle plate
that has a 45 degree bend on one side, so it sits square when you suck the bolts up... i'm too lazy
to look up the cut sheet, but unistrut and powerstrut both make something similar....

the only thing i have seen stronger than that is a certified welder with a stinger... :p

I have also used toggle bolts but if the load will be heavy I prefer hex nuts top and bottom. If the gap at top is too wide for washers, get some 3 1/2 octagon covers with the 1/2 KO. They will bridge the gap well and are strong. Square Unistrut washers are sometimes wide enough, not always.
