This is interesting how this guy Grounds the helicopter to the high voltage lines so can work on them..

Saw a different show about dangerous jobs or something to the effect helicopter blades give off static charge, which give the arcing when connecting to and from helicopter
very interesting .... I mean someone had to think of that!
who could have predicted how the future of electricity would become from flying a kite in a storm

Technically, he's not grounding the helecopter. He's energizing the helecopter so there is no potential difference between it and the power line he is working on.

...the helicopter platform is isolated from the helicopter itself, the platform is what is becoming energized, or brought up to equal potential as the line voltage

Actually,the live high voltage lines have residual charges on them so that when the ungrounded electrician touches them with his bare hands,he may receive a shock.To prevent this he touches the lines with his wand to distribute the charges equally.
