can the 2 pole 40 amp circuit for the blower heater be extended to the a/c compessor [using fused disconnect at the compressor]?

IMO, no unless you make the 40 amp a feeder and the loads are appropriate. I suspect that a dp 40 has more than the blower. Art. 422.12 states central heating system shall be supplied by an individual branch circuit.

Back to what Dennis said. Is the 2p 40 amp circuit large enough to carry the AHU and the compressor. Heat strips involved?
