Does anyone have a link to a decent on-line lighting calculator? I need to determine the spacing & wattage of recessed florescent can lights to use in a hallway that's 60' long x 5' wide with 9' ceilings & white painted walls. I'm thinking an illumination level of around 40 fc would be about right...maybe 50 fc? It's a hall in a medical clinic. Because of the 24" joist spacing the lights will need to be a spaced a multiple of 2'. I'm thinking a fixture spacing of 4' or 6'???

Thanks!!!

Frankly, serveral major manufactures have both calculators and lamp break downs, Phillips here, Sylvania, and GE also supply about the same.

Lighting calculator

The use of your favorite search engine or even search old post here might on this forum should reveal the same.

Hope that helps! :)

I have received help from my supply house at times even when I may not have purchased the lighting from them. I give them a hand drawn diagram and the specifics and in and they take care of it. I know that is not what you asked but that is an alternative.

Good luck

Supply house works for me also. Even if not planning to buy fixtures from them, give them dimensions, type of luminaires desired, etc. and ask for layout and quote. They will do it for no charge.

If they want to know why you didn't buy from that quote you can always say you didn't get the job - they are always quoting jobs that never happen. Sometimes they have more than one contractor asking for quote for same job, this is easier for them because they only have to figure things out once.

Supply house or Visual - Basic Edition. Works very well. The pro version is way more than most of us will ever need.

I did a google search for Visual Basic Edition, but all I got was the Microsoft programming language & related stuff. Do you have a link to the program you're talking about?

I think You guys are working with smarter suppliers than I am, but I'll give a couple of them a shot & see what they tell me.

Thanks for the ideas!!!
