In the coming few days I have to install an 8' 240V baseboard heater. The baseboard is very small, in height.

Would you install the heater resting on the baseboard or would you cut the base and mount the heater resting on the carpeted floor?

Thanks

personal preference. Have always liked them on the floor with the baseboards butt up against them like so.

The baseboard is about 2" in height and I will be running the supply via WireMold. While I can bend WireMold, I would much prefer not to.

Is your supply running horizontal on the wall or up from the heater? If coming from below put it close to, or on the floor then you can hide the supply easier. You will need to bend an offset, or use an offset connector for wiremold, just like you would for any enclosure with a 1/2 KO.

I'm running parallel to the floor just above the baseboard.

Thanks

You can either raise heater to match KO up with where you want to run wireway or you can place heater on floor if you think that looks better and drill your own KO where necessary. Nothing says you have to use the pre punched KO's. You may even be able to get it close enough to the back that an offset is not needed.

I never cut the baseboard but it has been many, many years since I wired one.

I don't want to cut the base either. I have not installed a baseboard heater in about 20 yrs. With the short baseboard and a tall heater I think it would look bad to set the heater on the floor and have such a gap at the top, so I think mounted to the wall resting on the base is the best for this install.

I'm sure I don't need to mention it to you, but for the less experienced that might view this thread, don't forget the FPN to 210.52:

FPN: Listed baseboard heaters include instructions that may not permit their installation below receptacle outlets.
