...how many of you guys back feed the panel with generator thru the dryer outlet ? :jawdrop:

I have not tried that and I don't think I want to.

Did have a friend who wanted to feed the welder from the stove, for experiments .. No joke, I helped him get the welder home but would not hook it to the stove. He was renting .. homeless now. But of course, I have seen him on tv.

I have panel in the stairway. It concerns me not. It has passed inspection.

I may have been a little short on my paralleled tens when sub feeding that sixty amp panel so I may have used butt spices on some of the wires that I pulled into my pipe.
Also have a 12/2 Romex feeding my barn lights and plugs at the moment strung from house laying on grass plugged in to the outside plug which is 220. Unplug it when I need to move it or cut grass. Wasn't much of a problem until the 13 year old decided he was gonna help dad out and cut grass for him. He ran it over blew the main on the panel. Had to splice it later so what do you use? Blue plastic romex box. Hehehe getting done right this spring when I can afford it

Now that is crazy, I plug into a 20a duplex in the garage my genny only puts out 20a 120v, then feeds boiler, frig, tv, and I have to watch what turns on when.
My son went to get an extcord pulled out the "genny" cord and said what the hell is this thing? He is a GF at a nuke plant, I said thats what keeps you warm if the power gos out!

Several years back,
I had a customer who strung a cable tree-to-tree out to the barn.

He ran a 50A heater via this 12-2 Romex. Says it worked for years.

When I first saw it, it was sagging from the heat, had melted and one strand pulled apart.

He wanted a 6' piece of 12-2 Romex and some wire-nuts for a fix.

If I did stuff like that around my house, I would never get any sleep.

Oh, my word! An Arc-5.
Had a BC-348 receiver.
RC

Glad to hear your story,
I went from 807's to maybe 1640's (?), usually running about 1000V, because the plates would turn cherry. At these levels, CW speeds had to be lowered from 30wpm+ down to 15wpm- in order for the plates to remain cool enough.
I had a BC- type receiver for a while, then got a Hammurland HQ140x. Only CW, 80meters.
I kept only my old 'Handbooks' from 57, 61, and papers. Have the mechanical audio filter still.

That was 1957'ish on . . . Back when Ham Radio was the 'real thing'.
Norfolk Navy was full of radio operators
who depended on CW skills for their lives, from WWII.

Now-a-days it is only electrical (repairs and circuit tracing).
And we depend on the NEC for our lives frequently enough.

The part about the inheritance is a joke, but they really do have a FPE panel in the master closet.

I've run a few fire calls on FPE panels 25 years ago, closets with all the combustibles makes it worse. Unless the person is too poor to afford my services period, I won't even add a circuit to an FPE panel.

I sure wouldn't leave it in my folks house.

I knew you were kidding about the inheritance.

I use extension cords as a replacement for permanent wiring.

I have a switch that does nothing and I do not know where it goes. Fixing it has been on my to-do list for 6 years.

I have an exterior receptacle that has the wire run but never finished. Same for the doorbell.

My alarm system has been 80% completed for years and would only take a full weekend to complete (the 80% is working though).

I occasionally run test circuit setups in the house using romex strung across the floor.

I found a receptacle in one of my in-laws house that had the ground and neutral tied together on an ungrounded system but never went back with a GFI to fix it. I see it several times a year when visiting.

Aaaah. Confession is good for the soul. :)

Geez, I don't have anything like those things. There is the 12g flat extension from a LR outlet (labeled "new outlet" in the panel), behind the china cabinet and some other stuff, into the BR for a space heater. I occasionally use it for the iron, too. I recently took down the 500w yard light that was tie-wrapped 12' up a post and fed with an orange extension. Sometime I'll put up a real light... OTOH, when the washing machine kicks in, most of the ceiling lights dim and I'm sure the kitchen counter recep's are sharing with an outlet in the laundry. Eventually I'll map it all out and rearrange things. Pigs may also grow wings and fly .
