This is a 10KW sticker that came in a brand new air handler heat strip package. It is meant to be affixed when the appropriate heat strip is installed. Can anyone tell me how to fuse this? Of
course this is a trick question but the sticker is very real.

I thought this would amuse some.

Keep in mind this came out of a main stream manufacturer. 2011-10-10 07 40 29 (4).jpg

Assuming the 208V, single phase, and 8.2 KW are all correct, I calculate a load of 39.4 amps.

The MCA would be 39.4*1.25 = 40 amps. I'm not sure how the MOCP is calculated (or is it a listing thing determined by a testing lab?), but it seems like anything in the 40 to 50 amp range would be reasonable.

Of course, the last sentence could of used a little proof reading too.

Steve, Is this the "new math?"

I recently tried helping a nephew with his math homework, and didn't understand it at all. That's probably how they arrived at their MCA and MOCP values.

Yes, new math. :D I think I meant to say 39.4 *1.25 = 49.

I'm pretty sure it was right yesterday - can I blame it on a website error?? I'm pretty sure 4 and 5 are only one bit apart in binary:)

Just reminds me of the Jay Leno "Headlines", but you know, for us electrical geeks....

Maybe the manufacturer cut and pasted from the 3-phase model for the Max OCPD. Oops, no problem, we fix on next shipment...
