I'm looking for some in put, I am a lic electrical contractor in the state of Me, Ma, Nh. Vt. I have the opportunity to get in on a line of work in Fl. I spoke with the Fl stat lic board and they said that they only recip with 3 states and they only way for me to be lic is to take the state test which is not a problem but the state site there is a link to a test prep co , I spoke with these people and they say to takethe 3 day prep course is $650 and $1100 in books. Has any body used this co? and Is there any insight to getting this lic?

If your a Lic contractor you probably don't need to spend money on books and classes, I imagine your using the same NEC we are, I think the buisness law portion is the same referance material as MA, I had a Journyman lic there and was studying for the Masters before I moved here and the books are nearly identical. Good luck

The test should be easy for you. The hard part with Florida is all th BS in quailifying to take the test. The application is very confusing and be prepared to spend 6 months getting it approved. The board only meets 4 times a year to review. I took the test 30 years ago with only the NEC as referance but times have changed. The web site will have a lits of all ref books allowed. The test is given by a 3rd party proctor.

Actually, anyone and everyone can can sit for the Florida electrical exam. The ECLB will not even accept an application from an individual who does not have a passing score for the exam. It is true that once you get your application to the board, the nightmare begins...
